The National Disability Data Asset is a new way to bring together data about all Australians.

In this document we call it the ‘Data Asset’.

Data is:

• facts
• information
• records.

A Privacy Impact Assessment or PIA looks at how information about people is used in a project.

A PIA helps to:

• find the things that might go wrong in a project

• make sure the information about people is kept private.

A PIA was done in 2023 for the Data Asset.

The PIA looked at the Data Asset and how the Australian National Data Integration Infrastructure supports it.

In this document we will call the Australian National Data Integration Infrastructure the ‘computer system’.

The computer system is used to bring information for the Data Asset together in a safe way.

The PIA made 6 recommendations.

Recommendations are ideas on how to fix or make things better.

5 of the 6 recommendations have been done.
