What the Council talked about

The National Disability Data Asset Council is a group of people who make sure the Data Asset is being used in the right way.

In this document, we call this group the Council.

The Council held a meeting on 18 November 2024.

We explain what the Council talked about and learned at the meeting in the following sections.

First report about the Data Asset

The Council agreed when DSS should give them the first report about how the Data Asset is working.

We will give the Council this report in March 2025.

Work with the community

The Council talked about working with the disability community to support people to learn about the Data Asset.

This includes how information is kept safe.

The Oversight Panel

The Council works with other groups of people to make sure the Data Asset works well.

These other groups of people include:

  • people with disability
  • people who know a lot about disability.

One of these groups is called the Disability-informed Ethical Oversight Panel.

This is a group of people who:

  • check what research projects people want to use the Data Asset for

  • check that projects are unlikely to harm people with disability.

During the meeting, the Council talked about what this group will do in the future.

The Scoping Panel

Another group that the Council works with is called the Disability Data Development Scoping Panel.

This is a group of people who gave advice to the Council about:

  • new panels to set up in the future

  • important ideas that new panels could work on.

During the meeting, the Council:

  • talked about a report from the Scoping Panel

  • agreed to think about what panels to set up next.

The Council’s next meeting

The Council will hold their next meeting in February 2025.
